UW Implementation Science PhD Student Coco Alarcon Wins Best Student Poster Competition at CUGH for Community-Based One Health Project
Coco Alarcon, a University of Washington PhD student in Implementation Science, has won The Lancet Global Health-CUGH Best Student Poster Competition at the annual Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) conference, held virtually from March 12-14.
Help, Don’t Eat: King Holmes Awarded the Distinguished Leadership in Global Health Award at CUGH 2019
Years ago, global health expert King Holmes was called in to help connect the disparate divisions of a large, unnamed organization. On his first day, he went to talk with a division leader and saw the following on an office white board:
Eat them or be eaten.
He thought a moment. Then he picked up an eraser and cleaned the board. In place of the carnivorous phrase, he wrote:
Help them and grow stronger together.
UW Students Win Top Awards for Innovative Research at World's Leading Academic Global Health Conference
University of Washington Department of Global Health students won top awards in the Lancet-Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) student research competition held at the CUGH conference in New York, March 16-18. The international conference brought together over 1800 people from academia, NGOs, government and the private sector.
