As a global health master’s student in the UW School of Public Health, Amanda Li has been thoughtfully engaging with Asian American communities in King County, rural communities across the U.S., and global communities in Kenya to support public health communications that align with those populations’ needs and goals. For her academic excellence and commitment to public health, Li received the 2024 Gilbert S. Omenn Award for Academic Excellence, one of the most prestigious School-wide recognitions for master’s and doctoral students.

The University of Washington School of Public Health (SPH) recognized dozens of students, staff, and faculty at its annual Excellence Awards celebration on May 14, 2024 in the Hans Rosling Center for Population Health. The Excellence Awards celebrates members of the SPH community for their dedication, service, and many contributions to public health. Congratulations to all our awardees!

In 1957 in Montgomery, Alabama, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. addressed an audience and stated that “life's most persistent and urgent question is, ‘what are you doing for others?’" Today his legacy is one of service and community impact. To honor that legacy, The School of Public Health participates in the annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tribute sponsored by UW Health Sciences Schools, UW Health Sciences Administration and UW Medicine. 

The UW/Fred Hutch Center for AIDS Research is delighted to announce the 2020 New Investigator Award recipients.  The purpose of this award program is to encourage junior investigators (at a senior stage of training or recently independent) to conduct independent research, acquire preliminary data to use for exogenous grant submissions, publish, receive mentorship, and write one or more grants to obtain funding to continue their HIV/AIDS research careers.
