F. Bruder Stapleton, MD is the Ford/Morgan Endowed Chair and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics and Associate Dean at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and the Chief Academic Officer and Senior Vice President at Seattle Children’s.  Dr. Stapleton received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Kansas.  Following a pediatric residency at the University of Washington, he completed a fellowship in pediatric nephrology at the University of Kansas and served for two years in the U.S. Navy as a pediatric nephrologist.  At the University of Tennessee (1979-1989), he founded a pediatric General Clinical Research Center and served as its program director and Director of Research at the LeBonheur Children's Hospital.  He is currently Principal Investigator of the Child Health Research Center Molecular Biology of Development grant and co-investigator of a comprehensive cancer center grant from the NCI. 

Dr. Stapleton moved to Buffalo, New York, in 1989, as the A. Conger Goodyear Chair of the Department of Pediatrics as well as the Pediatrician-in-Chief and Medical Director for the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo.  Dr. Stapleton served as Assistant Secretary-General and Treasurer of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association, Secretary-Treasurer and President of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, and Co-President of the 12th Congress of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association in 2001. He is Past-President of the Association of Medical School Pediatric Department Chairs.  He is the founding Editor-in-Chief of Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and Co-Editor-in-Chief of UptoDate, Pediatrics.
