George Edward Kenny, former chair of the UW Pathobiology department, passed away on October 13, 2022.
George, known around the world for his extensive research on mycoplasmas, organisms that cause respiratory and genital infection, joined the Department of Preventive Medicine in the UW School of Medicine in 1961.

DGH students dreaming of making a positive difference in the world. One group of students was not content to wait until after graduation, so they joined the Global Health Justice Group. In June, Global Health Justice launched a website to amplify the voices and narratives from the Global South which address structural inequities and fundamental political and economic drivers of health that are often absent in the conventional global health discourse.

The Department of Global Health awarded fifteen international travel fellowships to support the projects and research of graduate students and medical residents at UW for the next academic year. Students from varied disciplines across the University, including global health, epidemiology, nursing, psychology, architecture, and environmental health, will travel to eight countries to engage with local communities and pursue fieldwork experience.
