September 14th marked 6 months since Cyclone Idai made landfall on Mozambique’s central coast. In that time, Health Alliance International has worked to bring together multiple partners, including Mozambique’s National and Provincial Health Service to enact both emergency response and long-term resiliency building activities. In addition to securing and coordinating the import and distribution of locally-prioritized medicines, supplies and equipment; Health Alliance International is helping to rebuild two public primary health care facilities in the two districts most heavily affected by the cyclone.
James Pfeiffer, a professor of global health, is the Executive Director of Health Alliance International. He works on public sector health system strengthening projects in Mozambique. Learn more about Health Alliance International at https://healthallianceinternational.org/.
