HIV and Child Neurodevelopment in Kenya

This is a cross-sectional study to determine the incremental benefit of initiation of antiretroviral therapy in school-aged children with ART from infancy versus 18 months-5 years of age. This project will also determine the relative influence of modifiable cofactors for neurocognitive impairment in these groups, including viral suppression, immune reconstitution and type of regimen. Primary collaborators are mentors at the UW and Michigan State University. Funding is provided through UW CFAR.
