High-Sensitivity Lateral Flow Rapid Protein-Binding Assays for Pathogens
The purpose of this project is to develop a new generation of extremely low cost instrument-free disposable devices for protein-binding assays as diagnostic devices for infectious diseases. The target is to expand on the strengths of lateral flow assays by basing the microfluidic devices on porous materials. This is a collaboration between the Yager lab, the Baker lab, Laboratory Medicine, Seattle Children's, PATH, and General Electric's Global Research Center. The specific target for this project is a set of more sensitive assays for influenza, through a combination of chemical amplification and replacing antibodies by novel binding proteins being developed by the David Baker Lab. The aim is to use cell phones to analyze quantification.
