Immune Profile and Network Analysis of Malaria Infection and Vaccination
The overall goal of this project is to identify immune signatures that are associated with immune protection from malaria, primarily at the pre-erythrocytic stage. The studies build on encouraging results from clinical trials that used two vaccine approaches; attenuated sporozoites and recombinant circumsporozoite subunit vaccines. Using a systems biology approach, we aim to identify the immune responses that correlate with various degrees of malaria protection and lay the foundation for understanding mechanisms of life-long protection.
