Ghana Integrated ANC Project
The overarching goal of the proposed project is to reduce morbidity and mortality attributable to infections in newborns by improving diagnosis and management of maternal infections during ANC. To achieve this, GHS and PATH will partner to optimize and integrate screening and treatment for infectious diseases such as Hepatitis B, UTIs, GBS, and STIs—including syphilis, HIV, chlamydia, and gonorrhea—into routine ANC services. The project will be implemented at primary healthcare level in five districts of the Bono East Region over a 24- month period. The project will focus on the delivery of evidence-based infection prevention and management interventions through community-based and first level healthcare providers. It will expand provider capacity in diagnosis and management of maternal infections, improve availability of such services through ANC, and strengthen linkages between primary and referral facilities.
