Building the evidence base for appropriate care of the sick, undernourished child in limited resource settings (CHAIN Network 2)

This grant has the following objectives: i) complete enrolling a cohort of acutely ill infants under 6 months and send samples for ‘omic deep phenotyping; ii) complete enrolling a cohort of uncomplicated SAM children in the community and send samples for ‘omic deep phenotyping alongside the CHAIN Nested Case-Cohort Study; iii) complete enrolling and follow up immunology and MITS sub-studies; iv) complete analyses of data from CHAIN 1.0 for publication and trials planning; v) set up an adaptive clinical trials platform and start trials according to an adaptive platform design utilizing a Bayesian probability framework. The project is supported by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through the University of Oxford, Oxford.
