Understanding the Impact of State-level Policies and Initiatives on the Implementation of Overdose Prevention Interventions within Syringe Service Programs

The proposed purpose of this project is to build a knowledge base of which policies or initiatives are associated with uptake and delivery of large-scale, sustained implementation of naloxone, fentanyl test strips (FTS), and buprenorphine treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD) through syringe service programs (SSPs) in the United States. At a time when federal health agencies and state and county public health departments face major resource constraints, this evidence base will provide critical information for prioritizing resources and efforts that support community-based overdose prevention and drug treatment services.
