Evaluating the impact of Group Interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT) in Lebanon and Kenya on child developmental outcomes, maternal depression and the mother-child relationships.
The backbone of this research programme is a clinical trial of group IPT for mothers with postnatal depression in Lebanon and Kenyan, integrated into the existing cultural and healthcare landscape in each site. Cross-cutting this central objective are several interlinked work packages aimed at optimizing the implementation of the intervention and trial methodology and widening the programme’s impact. Specifically, we have defined 5 cross-cutting work packages: 1) Identifying local needs, mapping care pathways and identifying barriers to treatment delivery, 2) Community engagement and impact, 3) Modifying gIPT, training and clinical capacity building, 4) feasibility testing and refinement of trial protocol and 5) research capacity building
