Evaluation of the Youth Health Africa (YHA) Project
This implementation science project is a collaboration with the Aurum Institute in South Africa. YHA has two goals: (1) to improve the employability and livelihoods of the young adults it engages, but also (2) to strengthen the HIV response in South Africa. It is this second goal that makes the program unique from various other internship/training programs that exist. Young adults are placed in HIV-related programmatic and administrative roles in health clinics. The evaluation includes an assessment of the impact of the program on HIV services (in a cluster randomized trial), program acceptability and the cost of placing interns in health facilities. |
