Effects of Human Milk Oligosaccharides and Gut Microbiome on Growth and Morbidity in HIV-Exposed Uninfected Infants

This birth cohort will examine the role of maternal HIV infection on human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) and the infant gut microbiome and identify HMO-mediated pathways and their influence on linear growth and incidence of diarrhea and enteric dysfunction in HIV-exposed uninfected and HIV-unexposed infants in Kenya. The main collaborators are UW and KEMRI CCR. Funding provided by NICHD.
