Designing a combination intervention strategy using point-of-care viral load testing to improve pediatric viral suppression in Kenya
In Africa, as many as 40% of HIV-infected children receiving treatment are not adherent to ART, placing them at high risk of poor clinical outcomes. Implementing a package of interventions into pediatric HIV care clinics that includes point-of-care viral (POC) load monitoring to test for treatment adherence can improve treatment adherence by addressing patient barriers to care. We propose obtain caregiver and stakeholder feedback to design a feasible and acceptable intervention package utilizing POC viral load testing tailored to pediatric treatment clinics in Kenya.
