Postmortem Minimally Invasive Tissue Sampling (MITS) in Malawi

The MITS procedure is a valid and socially acceptable alternative to full autopsy and is increasingly being used in research and surveillance in low-resource settings; however, the procedures currently does not include intestinal sampling due to technical issues. The MITS in Malawi study aims to determine the feasibility of postmortem endoscopic intestinal sampling. Funding is from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation through Sept 2021.
