A Comprehensive Assessment of HIV Drug Resistance Among Seroconverters using Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (TDF)- Containing Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in Kenya

The primary objective of this proposal is to assess the frequency of HIV-1 drug resistance mutations among PrEP clients nationally who test HIV-positive after initiating PrEP. Further, the proposal plans to explore the relationship between HIV drug resistance and PrEP adherence in individuals who seroconvert on PrEP. Hence, the drug resistance data obtained in the study will inform the national PrEP program and provide guidance to ensure long-term effectiveness of both PrEP and ART in the population. Funding: Funded by USAID, through University of Pittsburgh
