HIVAcute and HIVAlert

This is an NIH R61/R33 grant to develop a low-cost (home) instrument-free self test for HIV that can detect the earliest days of the acute phase weeks before the greatest infectiousness on the part of the host. It focuses on the development of a self test using an isothermal NAAT to detect RNA from the HIV vision in a finger-stick blood sample at the point when the viremia is near 1000 copies per ml of blood. Collaborators are ELITech Molecular Diagnostics, and Atomo Diagnostics Inc.
