Typhoid Vaccine Acceleration Consortium (TyVAC)

This project, a partnership between the Center for Vaccine Development at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, the Oxford Vaccine Group at the University of Oxford, and PATH, an international nonprofit, aims to accelerate the introduction of new WHO-recommended typhoid conjugate vaccines (TCVs) as part of an integrated approach to reduce the burden of typhoid in countries eligible for support from Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance (Gavi). The project involves: collation of typhoid burden data; decision-making for the vaccine introduction; application process to Gavi and introductory activities that involve micro-planning, advocacy and communication, and post-introduction evaluation, survey, and research. Funding is provided through the University of Maryland from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
