Technical Assistance to the National School Feeding Programme in Nigeria

Working through the Presidential Office and under the personal mandate of the Vice-President, we are developing contextual, evidential based design for state-level rollout of the National School Feeding programme. This is a USD 400M four-year government-led programme that has the potential to deliver health interventions (not only school feeding) a quarter of all school age children in sub-Saharan Africa.

This domestically financed program is currently feeding 9.5 million children DAILY using locally sourced food. It is now the largest school feeding program in sub-Saharan Africa reaching almost of a fifth of school age children in sub-Saharan Africa. The team works in ensuring quality design, monitoring and evaluation. The model is being adapted in many other countries in the region, not least Ethiopia, but also in other regions across the globe.
