Complete Genome Sequencing for Genetic Risk Factors of HIV-acquisition

This is a discovery and replication study that applies whole human genome sequencing to extreme HIV-1 transmission phenotypes (individuals highly exposed to the virus who did not become infected and individuals who became infected at lower exposures) to identify genomic factors associated with risk of HIV-1 acquisition. This is in collaboration with the UW Department of Statistics and UW Department of Pediatrics and Genome Sciences. This project has utilized funding from the NIH/NIAID with funding for collection of samples through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
