Ecological drivers of transmission, emergence, and displacement of an aquatic virus in fish hosts

This is a project that unites analysis of field data from viral surveillance and  genotyping with laboratory studies of viral phenotypes and host resistance. The combined data inform development of a landscape transmission model aimed at identifying drivers of virus emergence and displacement in salmon of the Pacific Northwest. Research partners include the U.S.G.S., UW, and the Cary Institute of Ecological Studies.  Funding is provided by the USDA-NIFA as a part of the joint NSF/NIH/USDA program on Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Disease.
