Strengthening Data Systems to Improve Delivery of Health Services in Mozambique

This project, supported through the USAID Mission in Mozambique, has two components. The first is a 9-month fellowship training program in strategic information. This training program is national in scope, and targets recent college graduates to participate in a 9-month fellowship training that includes a mix of didactic and on-the-job training working with public health agencies in Mozambique. A total of 42 fellows will be trained across 3 cohorts.

The second program involves the development and implementation of iterative audit and feedback cycles with district and facility managers to 1) conduct service provision and data quality assessments, 2) review performance in implementing malaria guidelines (adherence to clinical and preventive Ministry of Health norms), and 3) define action plans to improve performance. A total of 12 high population districts in central Mozambique are part of this systems improvement initiative.
