The Department of Global Health offers student travel support up to $4000 to graduate and professional students at the University of Washington to help support in-depth fieldwork experiences in global health. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until May 1, 2025 or until funds are exhausted, and should be submitted around 90 days prior to proposed travel dates. All travel fellowship recipients must abide by all fellowship, Department of Global Health, and University of Washington policies that pertain to travel under the fellowship. Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of a fellowship.
UPDATE May 13, 2025: Due to additional funds provided by a donor, an additional 3 travel awards for degree-related travel may now be offered. Applications will be accepted from May 14 to May 16. Specifically, the travel fellowship application will re-open to accept applications starting May 14 at 10:00am PST and will close again on May 16 at 5:00pm.
As with the normal travel fellowship rolling review process, applications will be reviewed in the order they are received. Applications must be complete in order to be reviewed, and incomplete applications will be removed from consideration. Please note that applications that are missing required signatures will be considered incomplete. Applications that are received after award dollars have been exhausted will be put on a waitlist and may be awarded funding in the event that more funding becomes available. Waitlisted applications will also be reviewed in the order that they were received. Applications will not be accepted after May 16.
Students are strongly encouraged to carefully review the instructions and guidance in the travel fellowship application to ensure completeness of their application. The application may be downloaded HERE.
DGH Travel Funding is generously supported by the Thomas Francis, Jr. Global Health Fellowship, the Stergachis Endowed Fellowship for International Exchange, and the Global Mental Health Consortium. You can learn more about recent travel fellowship recipients here.
