Biography 

Dr. Maneesh Batra is a Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology; Adjunct Professor of Global Health; and Associate Director of the Pediatrics Residency Program at the University of Washington and Seattle Children's hospital. He has two primary scholarly interests. The first is capacity building in resource limited settings, including human resource capacity, and the second is synthesis of existing solutions and adaptation of interventions to these settings. He helped to develop, implement and direct the University of Washington Pediatric Residency Global Health Pathway in 2007. He is a member of the Global Health Task Force of the American Board of Pediatrics and has served in several consulting roles to the WHO, and is currently a Global Newborn Strategy Consultant for the BMGF. He has been a collaborator on several studies evaluating etiologies and outcomes of preterm birth globally and has been involved with the clinical training of students, residents, and fellows at the UW and with the training of health workers of all levels in Kenya and Uganda.
