Alex Greninger, MD, PhD, MS, MPhil, is assistant director of the UW Medicine Clinical Virology Laboratory, director of the Retrovirology/Clinical Trials Laboratory, and the Larry Corey Endowed Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.
In addition to clinical and clinical trial responsibilities, Dr. Greninger focuses on genomic and proteomic characterization of a variety of human viruses and bacteria, with a focus on respiratory viruses and human herpesviruses. He has discovered a number of new human and animal viruses. His basic science lab at South Lake Union uses genomically informed approaches to understand human and animal infectious diseases.
Dr. Greninger earned his MD and PhD, from UC San Francisco, his MS in Immunology from Stanford and his MPhil in Epidemiology from Cambridge in England. Dr.Greninger has clinical interests in facilitating clinical and clinical trial testing for all viral diseases.
