Disease Control Priorities Network (DCPN)

The Disease Control Priorities Network (DCPN), funded in 2009 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is a seven year project managed by two units at the University of Washington – the Department of Global Health (DGH) and the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME). The project components led by IHME focus on producing cost estimates, assessing and producing systematic reviews, and informing global health resource allocations. The project components led by DGH focus on assessing and improving evidence of effectiveness and efficacy of interventions, delivery platforms, and policies, and supporting a range of priority-setting activities in a network of countries.

Specifically, the objectives of DCPN-DGH are to inform the allocation of financial and other resources across health interventions and platforms in developing countries by 1) collecting and generating information about priority health interventions and platforms; 2) assessing and improving evidence of the effectiveness of health interventions and platforms; 3) advancing knowledge and practice of analytical methods for economic evaluation of health interventions, financing, and service delivery; 4) and enhancing country capacity to conduct activities 1 through 3 for the purpose of informing policy at the country level in a small number of countries. The primary outcomes of DCPN-DGH will be Disease Control Priorities in Developing Countries, 3rd Edition and well-established country-level priority-setting enterprises in a select group of countries.
