Epidemiology of TB in an Urban Slum

The epidemiology of TB in urban slums in developing countries is largely unknown. For example, in Nima, Ghana, the prevalence and incidence are entirely unknown, since only passive surveillance is available, and clinics are working beyond capacity. In addition, stigma is attached to having TB, so underreporting is undoubtedly a very large problem. By using molecular and spatial clustering data, we are identifying the descriptive epidemiology of TB.
