Antiretroviral Periconception HIV Prevention for HIV Discordant Couples

This is a mixed-methods study to pilot a comprehensive package of biomedical (e.g. PrEP, ART) and behavioral (e.g. fertility tracking) components to reduce HIV transmission risk among HIV discordant couples when they want to have children. Couples desiring pregnancy are followed for one year or until the end of pregnancy. mHealth components include the use of daily SMS surveys to track fertility indicators and a novel tablet app developed by the study team to visualize fertility data alongside data on PrEP and ART use. Primary collaborators are at the Thika, Kenya Partners in Health Research and Development Clinic. Cohort follow up is ongoing through early 2018.
