Maternal Microchimerism and BCG-Specific Immunoregulation in HIV-exposed Infants

The focus of this project is the investigation of maternal microchimerism as a mechanism of abnormal immune responses in HIV-exposed, uninfected (HEU) infants. The project will test the hypotheses that (1) HEU infants acquire more maternal microchimerism, and (2) that maternal microchimerism predicts response to BCG immunization. This project is supported by a CFAR New Investigator Award (NIH/UW) through 2020.
