Landscape analysis of cancer care in Nigeria

This is mixed-method study/project where data is obtained from cancer treating hospitals in Nigeria on its priority cancer medicines, cancer patients etc. The analysis sets the stage for engaging pharmaceutical companies and the government on access agreements around its prioritized cancer medicines with the goal of making the medicines affordable and accessible in a sustainable way. It also identifies gaps in diagnostic and treatment capabilities to inform capacity building programs.
Primary collaborators are the Federal Ministry of Health and BIO Ventures for Global Health. Funding is provided by Pfizer and Takeda. 
BVGH will align the needs assessments data on priority cancer medicines, treatment regimens, and technologies with the priorities, budget and financial information from the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Health to engage manufacturing companies for these medicines would then be engaged on affordable access to their medicines. Through this work the Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole has called on companies to submit proposals for the different priority medicines.
