Mucosal Environment in HIV Prevention

This project seeks to apply proteomic and genomic technologies to samples and longitudinal data collected from large HIV-1 susceptible cohort studies to identify molecular factors present in the female genital tract that are associated with altered risk of HIV-1 acquisition. The laboratory and statistical analysis is being performed in collaboration with the University of Manitoba, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and Oregon Health Sciences University. Funding for this project is through the NIH/NIAID with funding for collection of samples through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation
