The Center for Infectious Disease Research (formerly Seattle Biomedical Research Institute) conducts research aimed at generating new drugs, diagnostics, and treatments for global infectious diseases. The Center’s faculty use the latest technologies in systems biology, immunology, and molecular biology to examine both host and pathogen. Diseases under study include tuberculosis, malaria, HIV-AIDS, and neglected diseases. The Center works to promote the success and education of young people interested in careers in science and research, with programs at the high school through postdoctoral level.
