Strengthening Data Systems to Improve Delivery of Health Services

In Mozambique, there is a need for well trained and motivated human resources who understand how to collect, manage, and use data efficiently and strategically at all levels of the public health system. Furthermore, data quality is still a major challenge for facility - and community-based programs throughout the country. The Strategic Information Improvement in Mozambique (SIIM) project, funded by a three-year grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is designed to address critical gaps in monitoring and evaluation (M&E), health information systems (HIS), and human resources in Mozambique among United States Government implementing partners, local community-based organizations, and the Government of Mozambique. The SIIM project began in November 2014.

The SIIM project’s overarching objective is to sustainably improve Strategic Information (SI) and M&E capacity among key public health program partners at the provincial, district, and health facility levels. The project will strive to improve health data systems in Mozambique so that high quality human resources and data are available for health program management and strategic decision-making.
