Established in 2007, the University of Washington’s Department of Global Health (DGH) seeks a visionary leader to become the Department Chair and recipient of the William H. Foege Endowed Chair in Global Health. Under the leadership of King Holmes, MD, PhD, the founding chair, our outstanding department has over 300 faculty, 470 students and fellows with 743 projects in 114 countries. The department is committed to fostering collaborative interdisciplinary programs to promote health worldwide. Key programs include the Institute for Health Metrics & Evaluation, the Center for AIDS Research, the Global Center for Integrated Health of Women, Adolescents, and Children, the Global Health Research Center, Health Alliance International, the International Clinical Research Center, and the International Training and Education Center for Health. In only six years, annual grant and contract awards to the DGH are $133.8 million.

The successful candidate has a distinguished record of leadership in a field related to global health, a dedication to excellence in clinical and research programs as well as a strong commitment to education at multiple levels, including undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate and mid-career training. Applicants must qualify for the rank of Full Professor (MD, PhD, DO or doctorate in a discipline related to global health required or foreign equivalent) in both the School of Medicine and the School of Public Health.
